Durham Community Kitchen Needs Your Help
Urban Ministries of Durham

On the 4th Sunday of each month, Kol Haskalah, Judea Reform and Beth El help provide dinners to homeless and hungry people in Durham. Our small group of Jewish Congregations serves over 200 people each month, and the number keeps growing. We feed all ages, all backgrounds, all religions.

Please consider volunteering your HELP or donating needed food for the Durham Community Kitchen the 4th Sunday of each month. Prep hours are 4:15- 5:45pm. Serving starts at 6:00 pm. (These times have been changed from the usual hours.) If you wish to help serve, let Renee know and she will pass your name along to the serving crew.

We need donations of casseroles, cookies, large cans of green beans, sweetened iced tea, and shredded cheese, peanut butter and jelly (there are so many kids now!) You can drop off the food at Judea Reform on the 4th Friday of each month or take supplies directly to the shelter on that Sunday at 4:15 p.m.

Please call Renee (brauch1@nc.rr.com) at 767-9010 if you would like to participate in this mitzvah. Please let her know what you can donate so that she can coordinate with the other congregations. You do not need to participate every month, but PLEASE consider doing this very small good deed for just 1 1/2 hours to help the needy and hungry or by donating any of the needed food supplies. This is a great family activity, especially for teenagers. What better way to teach what Judaism really means?

We also continue to collect non-perishable foods for the food banks and old towels/blankets for the animal shelters. Please bring to any congregation event.
